The Soviet has granted an amnesty to 12,000 prisoners, arid reduced Hie sentences on 59,000 engaged in the construction of the Baltic-While Sea canal. The coveted Order of Lenin has being awarded to seven officials for securing the completion in record time of the canal, which has been named the Statin. It was built in 19 months.
