INTEREST IN BLACKBLOCKS. MEETING AT ABOHENA. Interest in the Douglas Social Credit proposals ns a workable solution or the Dominion's economic troubles is growing apace, not only in the centres of population, but also in the more remote areas of settlement. On Saturday evening over sixty people assembled In the Arohcna schoolhouse to consider tho formation of a branch of the Douglas Social Credit movement. Mr G. K. Stewart presided. A party of Hamilton members attended and explained the aims and objects of the movement. In spite of the coldness of the night the greatest enthusiasm prevailed and questions and discussion kept the meeting going until midnight. Ultimately a motion to form a branch of the movement was carried unanimously and - the following were elected as an executive committee:— Mr Alan Wheal (chairman), Mr G. K. Stewart (secretary), Mrs A. Wheal, Miss A. Ballinger, and .Messrs F. Me Devitt, A. Gifford. J. Oliver, F. Elbogan, A. W. Dorman, F. Ballinger, Wratt and Francis. In declaring the meeting closed the chairman remarked that it was the biggest meeting \tc had ever seen in Arohcna. Arrangements are in train for forming a branch of ihe movement In the neighbouring settlement of Pukeatua.
