HYDRO-ELECTRICITY.

THE WAITAKI SCHEME. 1900 MEN AT WORK. POWER BY NEXT MARCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)' WAIMATE, Tuesday. The visit of the Hon. J. BitoheneP to the Waitaki hydro-electric works yesterday largely concerned the arranging of additional accommodation for a further 100 men who are needed to speed up the work on the Otago coffer dam, which is an important work, and is being pushed at present in order to complete to a certain stage, so as to remove all fears of possible flood damage. With a total of 900 men at work it is hoped to - reach this stage by December. It is understood that the authorities hope, provided there are no abnormal flood conditions, that power will be generated by March, 1935.
