Quotations given represent the average for the week, and are not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of shipments now on offer.

Mutton: The market for wethers is steady with a good demand. The market for ewes is dull. Beef: Trade is slow owing to the low prices of Argentine chilled beef. New Zealand porkers: The market is dull with very little business doing. New Zealand baooners: The market is steady and unchanged.

CLEARING SALE AT MATAMATA.

Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited, Hamilton, report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr M. J. Wooderson of Okauia on Friday as under: — There was a good attendance of buyers and a very satisfactory sale resulted. The stock was offered in good condition, and was of good quality. The following prices were obtained: Young cows close to profit and in milk made from £5 to £5 10s; aged cows, £2 10s to £i; two-year-old heifers, £4; yearling heifers, 37s Gd; pedigree Jersey bull, B}gns.; yearling bull, £3; light farm gelding, £l3; ditto, £9; breeding sows, Tamworth cross, with litter made £G 15s to £8; sows in pig, £5 to £3 ss; weaners, 14s; disc liarrows, 18s; top dresser, £7 10s; plough, £5 ss; sundries and harness at full market rates.
