DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
DAIRY FACTORY BURNED. ON EVE OF NEW SEASON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. A lire early this morning totally destroyed the Frankiey Road Dairy Company factory and plant. The building was enveloped .in flames when the outbreak was discovered by Mr F. Wisneskl, first assistant, who ocoupies a cottage nearby. He was awakened by the roar shortly after 4 a.m., and Immediately gave the alarm to the manager, Mr V. Baird. The directors and ether suppliers soon gathered, but could do nothing to quell the flames. The fire apparently started in the packing room, but the oause Is unknown. The butter-room was equipped with ■a modern plant and the cheese-mak-ing room contained five vats. The building was insured for £2OOO and the plant for £2600 In the Yorkshire Office. The fire happened at an unfortunate time, just when the factory was ■on the eve of starting the new season, and some difficulty will be experienced in arranging for neighbouring companies to handle the supply. This is the second North Taranaki factory lost within the last few weeks, that of the Warea Dairy Company being destroyed recently.
