IMPROVEMENT IN TRADE.

NEW PLYMOUTH PORT. INCREASE IN DAIRY PRODUCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. A distinct improvement in the trade of the port of New Plymouth during the first six months of this year is shown compared with the same period last year. The total cargo handled by oversea ships lias increased by over 10,000 tons and has been exceeded only in the boom year of 1929. Imports also show a marked improvement.

A feature is the large inorease in dairy produce exported. A total ot 19,112 tons of butter and cheese was shipped during the half year compared with 16,006 tons last year, an increase of 19.4 per cent. Butter sent from the port to Great Britain totalled 185,510 boxes compared with 143,584 boxes last year and the cheese exports eclipse the total for the first six months of 1932 by 23,-i 421 orates. 4
