WINTER WORK
WAIKATO TIMES FUND. STEADY RESPONSE MADE. A steady response continues to be made to the Waikato Times appeal for the provision of work for the unemployed during the “.stand-down” weeks of the winter. Many inquiries have been received and in consequence several men have been sent to jobs during this week. Inquiries are also being made for work after this week, and for the next "stand-down" week in June. The Hamilton Unemployed . Workers’ Movement has completed effective arrangements for dealing with inquiries, which may he made at its office, Room 14, King’s Buildings, or by telephone, through the medium of the Welfare League (’phone 1969). The movement arranges for the prompt handling of all inquiries, and supply of men where required. A meeting of the executive of the Unemployed Movement was held last evening to finalise arrangements. It was unanimously decided that, except In cases of urgency, members of the executive should not be eligible, for any extra work, until the demand fer labour should have exhausted the numbers of men available.
