WOMEN’S DIVISION.
TOKOROA BRANCH. Y Tokoroa branch held its second birthday party on Wednesday, May 10, when over 60 women were present. A short musical programme was put through and items were given by the following:—Banjo S'do, Mrs Nicholson; songs, Mrs Nicholson, Mrs Gcodrick, Mrs Gardner; recitation, Miss Mollie Colson, and a short twoact play, “(Keeping a Secret,” by eight members of the division. Following the entertainment, which was most enjoyable, afternoon tea was partaken of. The tables had been set out in the hall and quite the feature of the well-laden tables was a beautiful birthday cake adorned with two candles. The cake had been made by Mrs Graydon and iced and decorated by Mrs Newell. Mrs Sioper, in a happy speech of welcome to the visitors, who' were present, cut the cake. Visitors were present from Th’au and Putaruru branches.
AT NGARUA. Mrs 11. Scott presided ove- a large attendance at the monthly meeting of the Ngarua branch of (lie Women's Division of the. Farmers' Union. The mailer of increasing (he local funds was discussed, and it was decided to hold a social evening on May 17. II was reported that Mr Brown, lale ag"icull oral instructor, would give an address at the next meeting on “Gardening for Pleasure and Prolll.”
A compel i I ion 'for the best and most economical cake was won by Mrs Sprason, with Mrs Hansen second and Mrs Tomlinson third. Community singing and solos composed the musical portion of the programme. The hostesses were Mesdamcs L. Davis, W. Scott and Vickers.
