FIFTY YEARS AGO.

TAMAHERE ANGLICAN CHURCH. ANNIVERSARY SERVICE HELD. Fifty years of church progress in .he Tamahere district were marked by services in St. Stephen’s Anglican Church on Sunday morning, when many of the old identities gathered to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the dedication. The church was beautifully decorated, and a very inspiring service was conducted by Archdeacon G. G. Bell, vicar of Cambridge. The lessons were read by Mr E. H. Hammond and Mr W. 0. Garland. The solo, “How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings,” was sung by Mr G. A. Wheclei, of the Cathedral choir. Among the old Identities of the district who were present were Mr W. Owen Garland (who was present at the laying of the foundation stone and the dedication of the church), Mrs M. S. Chitty, of Cambridge, who was organist at the time of the dedication, and who played one of the hymns yesterday; Mr and Mrs Way; Mrs C. Pickering, who was the first person to be married in the church; and Mr j. J. Raynes, Mrs A. Furze,. Mr and Mrs G. Potts, and Mr and Mrs H. Paton.
