THE TRAFFIC BRIDGE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Anzac Day is over and the traffic bridge is still bearing the heavy strain. His Worship the Mayor must have grave doubts on his mind when he notified the public on Anzac Day to break step when going over the bridge. Is it not a disgrace to our Mayor, three engineers, 12 borough councillors, allowing this bridge alongside their offices to get into such a state?
It is over three years ago since I wrote a fairly long letter pointingx out the state of the bridge. Nothing was done. Eventually the borough engineer sent in a long report—the bridge was liable to fall Into the river bed. Two men were posted on the bridge, marching and countermarching, to keep the bridge from falling into the river. Some of our new settlers may think the above are not actual facts. They are beyond dispute. We are continually abusing the Coates-Forbes Government, but our local government (the Borough Council) requires a little new blood. I am, eto., CRITIC.
