ST. JOHN’S CHURCH.
MEETING AT TE AWAMUTU. The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. John’s Anglican Church, Te Awamutu, was held in the parish hall when the vicar, Rev. S. R. Warejng,-was in the chair and .about 80 parishioners were present. The vicar said that in every department of the parish activities, there was an increase. Communicants had increased by 501, and others in proportion. This year marked the 99th anniversary of the establishment of the district as a church district and on Good Friday fell the 79th anniversary of the consecration pf St. John’s. The treasurer’s report and balance ■sheet 'Showed that the parish had just paid its way, but if the parish endowment fund had not been utilised .It would have been behind.
Officials for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Vicar’s warden, Mr H. A. S war brick; people's warden, Mr G. 0. Jourdain; vestry, Dr. Pruis and Messrs J. G. Wynyarcl, A. Todd, J. T. North, J. Bent, N. McAlister, J. B. Hutchinson, C. Graham, H. Forke, and F. Terry; auditor, Mr C. G. ■Downes.
It was resolved that: “This meeting of parishioners is of the opinion that assistance should be afforded to the vicar by the appointment of a priest as curate in the parish. It was decided to obtain a new car, and a subscription for Hie purpose was opened and over £3O was promised.
