A. AND P. SHOW. DIBTRIOT SCHOOL OOMMITTEES. At a meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association executive a vote of sympathy was passed witli the relatives of the late Mr J. M. Fitness, who had been a valuable member of the ■society for many years. The secretary was instructed to apply to the conference for the first Saturday In March, 1934, as the date of the next show.

Messrs W. S. Wilson and F. Banks were appointed delegates to the annual conference of show associations at Auckland in May. Messrs A. S. Thirlwall and F. Banks were appointed .tr,i represent the association at a conference of show delegates to be held in Morrinsville shortly.to discuss the clashing of show dates and the closing of entries for shows. A deputation consisting of Messrs Thirlwall, Higgins, Wilson and Banks was appointed to wait on the Matamata Racing 'Club to discuss the question of a new lease of the racecourse. School Committee Eleotions. Very little interest was taken by ■householders in the annual election of .the school committee, only nine putting In an appearance. The meeting decided to reopen the question of a free supply of water with the Town ■Board and also to support the protest ■of the Primary Schools Association against the raising of the school entrance age.

The following committee was elected: —Rev. A. C. Hampton (chairman), Messrs V. B. Forbes (secretary), W. E. Gundy (treasurer), L. Flower, (deputy chairman),. G. H. ■Hawes, A, E. Wrigley, A. Latham, C. Ingram and H. C. Chilton.

The following committees were elected at schools adjacent to Matamata: Okauia: Mrs R. Booth (chairman and secretary), Messrs R. Booth, R. Ecoles, J. Douglas, J. Marsh.

Gibson, S. R. Harding, W. (Holmes. Frost. The first frost of the season was experienced in Matamata on Tuesday night. Seven degrees were registered. Anx«o Day. A large number attended the Anzac ■service on_ Tuesday. About 60 returned soldiers were present. The Revs. A. Blackmore, J. W. Burley and A. C. Hampton conducted the service, the Last Post blng played by Mr Roy White. Many ’beautiful wreaths were placed on the cenotaph. The collection in aid of local returned soldiers amounted to £l6. Motor ColllC'ton. A motor collision took place at 7.30 on Wednesday morning at the crossroads Intersection at Te Pol between a car, driven by T. R. Keys and owned by Mr R. 'C. Warner, of Te Puke, containing two other passengers, and a motor lorry loaded with posts, and driven by G. Robinson, of Rotorua. Mr Robinson was thrown out of his vehicle and received a cut over the eye and other facial abrasions. No one else was hurt, but both vehicles received extensive damage.
