SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

* HAMILTON EAST. Mr. H. M. Baker wai re-elected chairman, and Mr. H. E. Jacka secretary and treasurer, of the Hamilton East School committee. TE AWAMUTU. There was only a moderate attendance at the annual meeting of householders for the Te Awamutu School, The Mayor, Mr C. G. Downes, presided. The chairman’s (Mr G. S.' Clarke) report showed the relations between the staff tind committee had been very harmonious. The headmaster’s report stated the year had been one of steady progress. The Inspector’s reports have been veryencouraging. The following were elected to the cbmmittee: —Messrs G. S. Clarke, L. S. Armstrong, M. G. Galloway, A. P. Harvey, G. W. Mairs, G. B. Melrose, G. F. Smith, J. A. Maxwell and H. E. G. Wilson. The following resolution was carried:—That this meeting strongly protests against the raising of the school age to six years. Mr G. S. Clarke was re-elected chairman. MORRINSVILLE SCHOOL. Great interest was taken in the annual householders’ meeting of the Morrinsville School. The following committee was elected:— The Rev. Canon H. R. B. Gillespie (chairman), Messrs. D. T, Davies, G. A. Ferguson, J. A. Geddes, R. C. Gray, T. Petrie, F. West, C. A. Peat secretary, and R. D. Wilson, treasurer.

The new members are Messrs. Ferguson, Petrie and Wilson. Mr. C. Scott, who was secretary for flvß years, and Mr. E. M. Gregor, did not seek re-election.

PUKETAHA. The meeting of the householder! was very poorly attended. Mr. E. Thomas occupied the chair. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, the latter showing a satisfactory credit. The old committe« were re-elected as follows:—Messrs. W. J. Finlay (chairman), C. E. Thomas (secretary and treasurer), committee, Messrs. AVilmhurst, Letford and Sainsbury. It was decided to reinvest the hall fund fdr a period of two years, with the hope that the young people's organisations will further the fund. HUNTLY. I GOOD WORK AT SCHOOL'. The annual meeting of householders was held in the Huntly District High School on Monday evening, Mr G. Smith presiding. Mr W. Sillick, chairman of the school committee, stated that when the committee came into office the condition of the water tanks at the school was injurious to the children’s health. The matter was referred to the Minister of Health, who, on inspection, condemned the tanks and a new set was installed by the board’s architect. A picture benefit resulted in £J4 16s 6d for the Cocoa Fund, and the incoming committee would be able to cary on with the scheme.

With reference to the dental clinic, Nurses Mulholland and AVhiteside had found it very difficult to bring the work up to date. Te Kauwhata was now the only school behind with appointments, and 1310 patients had been treated since the committee took office. Huntly was believed to be the only free dental clinic in the North Island. The clinic showed a debit balance of £3 7s sd.

Headmaster’s Report. The headmaster, Mr R. C. D. Light* bourne, reported that he found the school in excellent order, and he complimented the committee on Its splendid work. It was decided to forward to the Ministers of Education and Health letters protesting against the legislation preventing children five years of age from attending school. The balance-sheet disclosed a credit-balance of £27 Is Id in the general fund and a credit-balance of £l2 4s in Hie special fund. A vote of thanks was expressed to the outgoing committee. Election of Committee. The election of a committee resulled: —Messrs W. Sillick (chairman), A. Tittrer, W. Weatherspoon, n. Meyer, D. Fleming, T. Whittaker, G. Slierwin, Mrs D. Fuller and Mrs H. Chisholm; secretary, Mr A. Allen; treasurer, Mr 11. Meyer.
