Bv defeating Hughes (Auckland) on points last evening Ted Oxley (Paliiatua) won the professional lightweight boxing title of New Zealand. The contest was of 15 rounds. Oxley showed more speed and did most of the leading. Oxley had the advantage for the first ten rounds and then Hughes showed superiority, but the challenger was again superior in the last two rounds.
