£13,000,000 SCHEME
GREAT NEW DOCK. THE KING’S ENGAGEMENTS. Towards the end of July the King will open the new graving" dock at Southampton, which is part of the £13,000,000 improvements scheme the Southern Railway is carrying out .there, says a London paper. The dock, which is the biggest graving dock in the world, is 1200 ft long and 135 ft wide. The door weighs 5000 tons. This is but one of many engagements which the King has arranged for the coming months. Others are: June 22: Opening new South Africa House: June 2G: Foundation stone, London University Building; July Visit to Royal Agricultural Show, Derby; July 12: Opening new Freemasons’ Hospital. Ravenscourt Park. W hen the King and Queen go to stay wdh t-ho Duke and Duchess of Devonshire at Chatsworth, for their visit to the Agricultural Show, it will be. the King’s first stay in the country away from his own home since before his illness In jf>2B.
