AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB. AUTUMN MEETING CONCLUDED. GOLDEN SCEPTRE WINS DOMINION REREATU LEADS NURSERY FIELD. BIG EVENT TO MASTER BRIERLY. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Monday. Showery weather prevailed for the concluding day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s Autumn meeting to-day. There was a fair attendance of the public. The track was on the holding side. '* Winner trained by owner, Onehunga. . ~ Courthaven, fifth fancy on both machines with £33 10s and £llß, took the front along the back, and was never afterwards headed, passing the judge with six lengths to spare. Biform, who was second choice, carrying £lB4 10s for a place, was always handily placed, and finished on soAdly at the end, but had no chance with the winner. The favourite, Don t Lap (£215 and £220) was decisively beaten. He was third at the straigat entrance, only to fail over the concluding stages. Grant Spirit, who was going great guns at the finish, was the closest of the others to the placed division. , . , Ruling King Jumped out smartly and along tlie back was lying behind Courthaven, with Patutahl, Biform, Grand Spirit and Don’t Lap following. Courthaven made play across the top, with Patutahi: in close attendance and Ruling King, Biform, Don’t Lap, and Grand Spirit in that order. Courthaven and Patutahi were still in charge at the home turn, and here Don t Lap, Biform, and Ruling King were the handiest of the remainder Courthaven stayed on to win comfortably from Biform, who beat Don’t Lap by three lengths. Grand Spirit was ahead of the rest, Ruling King Patutahi, The Highland Chief and Singleton.’ Time, 2.12 i-5.

He was with the leading bunch as the field hit the straight, and was ridden a sound race by Jenkins to win in decisive fashion. Rapper was finishing on well at the end, a head in front ol Gold Pocket. Gold Pocket had the best 'Of the despatch, showing the way over the initial stages to Cherry King, Gay Sheila, Rapper, Rereatu and My Money. There was no alteration in the order across the top, and Gold Pocket, Gay Sheila and Rereatu came into the straight practically In line, with Cherry King and Rapper handy. Arawa Rose, who was seventh fancy with £lO3 10s on the place machine, was nicely placed at the turn, ami got up to beat Loombination (£4l and £llO tOs) by a head. Over the early part Miss Rewa was close on the heels of Golden Sceptre, and this pair were followed here by Kouhviml, Supreme Ruler. Miss Lulu, and Lonmbiiialion. Supreme Ruler joined Golden Sceptre in the lead along the hack, where Phiakuo, Foulwind, -Miss Lulu, Loomhinalion, and Sweet Whisper were as named. Across the top Golden Sceptre and Supreme Ruler still had charge, and they swung into the straight, clear of Arawa Rose, Top Light and Miss Lulu. Golden Sreptre went on to win comfortably a length and a-half in front of Arawa Rose, who accounted

Tinker, Te Rapa. It was a heady race that the Te Rapa horseman, H. Long, rode Limex to victory, hanging on long enough to prevail by the closest of margins over the favourite Prolyxo. Aiguille was a length aw’ay, in front of speedmint. Aiguille jumped out to be followed over the early bit by Karangapai and Limeen. Limex hit the front across the top, and here was attended -by Limeen, Speedmint, Aiguille, Valpai and Karangapai. The pair were in charge racing along the hack, but at the straight entrance, Prolyxo had improved her position to' attend Limex into the straight, and they were closely followed by Aiguille, Karangapai, Va'tpai and Spee)clmint. In a great finish Limex and Prolyxo hashed past the post practically in line, the judge’s decision being half a head in favour of the Te Rapa mare. Aiguille was a length way in front of Speedmint, Karangapai, Valpai, and Limeen. Time, 1.28 4-5. Prolyxo, favourite over both divisions carried £3lB and £312 10s, and Limex, thind on the win machine, and second choice with the place investors, £215 10s and £27'4 10s, Aiguille being third place fancy with £265 10s. Master Brierly, favourite -ever both machines with £438 and £371 10s, was always handy, and he finished with a rattle at the distance to score comfortably. 'Chief Cook (£l5B 10s and £272 10s) also finished -on solidly with Alloy, fourth place fancy with £252, who came from a long way back, close on his heels. Eager Rose was the leader past the stands from Alloy, Grand Tea, Gay Cockade and Valroe. Along the back and across the top Gay Cockade and Eager Rose were practically on terms from Master Brierly, Valroe, Grand Tea, Chief Cook, Merry Damon, Taneriri and Alloy. Eager Rose was slightl’ in front of Gay Cockade at the turn, where Alloy was at the rear. In the run home Master .Brierly was not troubled to win by a length and a-half from Chief Cook, who was threequarters of a length in front of the fast finishing Alloy. Eager Rose was fourth, with Grand Tea, Merry Damon, Gay Cockade, Valroe and Taneriri as named. Time, 2.9 4-5.
