Mr John Clarke, a Leicestershire farmer and water diviner, at the request of the police has located four drowned bodies in the past fortnight with a piece of copper wire and a hazel twig. He rolls the wire round each arm, smears his fingers with 'a blue liquid (ills own secret preparation), and follows vigorous twitches of the, twig. He says: “If I handle something belonging to a missing person I am able to locate him blindfolded." The liquid in conjunction with the wire acts as a magnet. When Clarke locates a body he receives an electric shock: Clarke has been invited by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities to submit to a physical examination to disclose the secret of his mysterious power. _____________
