NEW ZEALAND BUTTER

HOW TO INCREASE CONSUMPTION. PROPOSAL BY SIR T. WILFORD. BETTER VALUE IN RESTAURANTS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Feb. 21, 10.25 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 20. Air S. M. Bruce and Si? Thomas Wilford are still in close touch with the Dominion Office in connection with the butter discussions, which Sir Thomas Wilford considers so Important that he is not attending the League Assembly on Manchuria. Sir Thomas Wilford to-night lengthily cabled the Government. Interviewed by the Press Association he said he can reveal nothing thereof, but suggests one scheme whereby consumption can be increased in England—namely, in restaurants, which now charge customers at least one penny each pat of butter. “1 weighed one from a West End restaurant, and found that it would require 5& to make lib. Therefore butter in restaurants costs -is 8d per lb. whereas New Zealand butter is sold in shops at as low as lOd per lb. If a restaurant gave a little more for a penny the consumption would increase considerably."
