FUTURE TOURS.

PRESS OPINION IN LONDON,

TROUBLES OF PRESENT SERIES

(Received Feb. 20, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 19

‘‘The future of test tours-can be considered at leisure in an atmosphere free from strain,” says the Observer editorially. “The troubles of the present series have arisen not from the players but from a certain section of the public and the type of journalism too ready apparently to cater for its weaknesses. The rules of cricket may need reform. If so it will not he so much in the direction of the suppression of the leg theory as of altering the conditions that brought it into being. It is the bowler, not the batsman, who needs more consideration. If there be any lingering danger of quasi-political animus the tests would better be dropped altogether for a time."
