GRAVE SITUATION.
GOVERNMENT EMBARRASSED. GROWING DISCONTENT. LONDON, February 17, The Sun says the papers agree that the gravity of the unemployment situation is seriously embarrassing the Government and claim that the pronouncement that the outlook is black for a decade lias distressed the House, where there is growing discontent at Mr Ramsay MacDonald’s impotence. The Manchester Guardian expressed a widespread opinion when it said the House of Commons silently listened to Sir Herbert Samuel warning not only the Liberals but the whole nation soon to go into the position. The Guardian adds that the Commons would have jeered such a statement three months ago.
