The report that a real while elephant has been found in the mountains near Trivandrum, India, reminds a correspondent of the white elephant, which was really pink, that “ Lord ” George Sanger used to exhibit in his circus. Once when King f Edward, then Prince of Wales, visited the | show, he put the question plainly, was the elephant white? “Lord" George Sanger, who was a courtier as well as a circus proprietor, replied, " I cannot tell a lie to my Prince; wo whitewash him every night.”
