BUTTER EXPORTS.

LONDON STOCKS. POOR CLEARANCES. Stocks of all butters held in London on February 1 amounted to 27,800 tons, 9700 tons, or over 50 per cent, more than on February 1, 1932, according to the latest returns of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board. Cheese stocks at same date totalled 15,400 tons, an increase of 1235 tons, or about 9 per cent. The figures relating to Dominion shipments in the current season reveal that stocks In London have not cleared In proportion to the increase in arrivals. During the period, August 1 to January 31, butter shipments increased by the 24 per cent, compared with last season’s total, while deliveries ex store London were only 2 per cent, greater. Similarly, cheese shipments advanced by 17 per cent, and deliveries were only 10 per cent, in advanoe.

STATEMENT BY PREMIER. EXPECTED AT WEEK-END. WELLINGTON, Friday. The Prime Minister, Mr Forbes, when questioned this evening regarding developments in connection with the report that New Zealand butter exports to Britain are likely to be restricted said he would probably make a considered statement on the subject at the week-end. Mr Forbes reiterated to-day that thus far no direct communications on the subject had takeu place between the New Zealand Government and the British Government.
