INFLATIONIST’S ROUTED. BANKING BILL PASSED. United Press Assn.— Elec. Tel. Copyright WASHINGTON, Jan. 25. The Senate to-day, by 54 votes tt 9, passed Mr. C. Classs’ Banking Bill. The inflationists, led by 'Messrs. Long and Wheeler, were completely routed. However, they expressed the opinion that the bill would be defeated in the House of Representatives. The measure is intended generally lo strengthen the national banMng system and to remedy the conditions under which over 10,000 banks have failed in recent years. It seeks to give t/he central board of the Federal Bank greater control -over its member banks, to divorce the banks and security affiliates, and limit reservo funds for speculative operations.
