DRABTIO PENALTIES. INCITEMENT AND SEDITION. United Press Assn.— Elcc. Tel. Copyright (Received Dec. 3, 10.15 a.m.) CANBERRA, Dec. 3. The Crimes Act Amendment Bill which was said by Senator Daly lo assail the freedom of the press which had taken centuries to establish, was carried through all its stages by the Senate. In committee Senator McLaclilan had an amendment inserted providing a maximum penalty of £SOO or two years’ imprisonment for a person publishing any seditious matter; also a maximum penally of £IOOO or life imprisonment for a person knowingly inciting members of the King’s forces to mutiny. The Senate has adjourned for th« Christmas vacation.
