The King of Denmark will (it is expected) arrive in London on December 10 and he will be the guest of King George at Buckingham Palace. Mr W. D. Teesdale has been appointed head teacher at Horahora. Mr. W. Appleton, of Wellington, has been appointed local director of the Phoenix Assurance Company, Ltd. Archbishop Averlll left Auckland last evening to officiate at the opening ceremonies of the Nelson Cathedral, which will take place on Saturday. Mr. J. C. Port, secretary of Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., is retiring at the end of this month after 52 years’ service with the firm. Mr Dudley Liddy, for many years on the staff of the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Otorohanga Store, has been transferred to Taumarunui. Mr. G. Holdsworth has been elected a director of the London board of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Ltd., in place of Mr. A. Michie, who has resigned. Constable F.
