IN PANAMA CANAL. TOO MUCH FLOOD WATER. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Nov. 30, 9.5 a.m.) BALBOA (Canal Zone) Nov. 29. The Panama Canal was closed lo traffic early on Tuesday as thirteen of the Gatun Dam spillway gates stood open to pass the torrent of flood water from tlie rampaging Chagres River. It was the first time in history that so many flood gates were swung wide, only twelve having been opened during the great flood of 1923. Officials said tlie crest of the flood was reached at 4 p.m.,' on Monday, but there is a possibility of a greater rise because storm conditions on the Atlantic side continue.
