OBITUARY.
MR JAMES TROUP.
WELL-KNOWN BOWLER PASSES The death occurred at a private hospital yesterday of Mr James Troup, one of the best known figures In local bowling ciroles, and patron of the Frankton Club. Born at /Peterhead, |Scot|land, 85 years ago, deceased came to New Zealand in 1874, on the ship Auckland. He landed at Dunedin, and went on to Napier, where he farmed lor six years. He then went to Woodville, where he lived for 26 years, taking a prominent part in local affairs. He was a member of the first racing olub in the district and served on the Borough Council, Agricultural Show Committee, School Committee and other bodies. On leaving Woodville, Mr Troup took up land in the King Country, and was one of the first setllers at Ngapaenga. In 1914 he sold his holding and went to his home town in Scotland, returning to New Zealand in 1918. Deceased visited America and Canada in 1925. In recent years he had lived at Frankton, and was a well known and popular bowler. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. •Mr Troup is survived toy an adult family. There are eleven grandchildren. MRS A. J. NEAL. OPOTIKI, Monday. The death has occurred of Mrs A. J. Neal, wife of Mr Charles Neal, of Matawai. Mrs Neal was born at Nelson 75 years ago.
