VERSATILE VICAR
NEW CHURCH CONSECRATED. The Rev. C. W. Budden, vicar of St Mildred, Addiscombe, Croydon, Surrey, whose new church was consecrated recently by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Cosmo Lang, was not ordained till lie was 50, in 192 <. lie is also a doctor of medicine; a qualified architect, who has designed liis own £3500 vicarage; an ex-cap-tain, n.A.AI.C., and author of many books. . The interior of his church i? rich in colour, blue and red predominating. Processions at the consecration included Hie Alayor of Croydon, Air \V. Peel, with Hie town clerk and mace, clergy and Free Church ministers, Seoul's guides, ambulance men, Salvation Army otfieers. police inspectors, Hie contractor, and the chief foreman.
