DISQUALIFICATION FOR LIFE. (By Telegraph.—Special lo Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday.' The appeal by the jockey L. H. Watson against his disqualification for life by the Auckland District Cornmil lee of Ihe New Zealand Racing Conference opened this morning, the case being heard in camera. 'Pile disqualillcalion was imposed as the result of v an inquiry into the running in Hie Buokland Hack Handicap at Pukekohe on March 7, 1931. The inquiry was held on October 6, 1931. At that time Watson was in Australia, and he rolut'ned some weeks ago in connection with a writ lie had issued against the District Committee asking for removal of the disqualification and claiming £IOOO damages, This was withdrawn on the day it was to have been heard by tiic Supreme Court, on the undertaking that Watson would be allowed to appeal to the Racing Conference against the District Committee’s sentence, which right normally lapses a month after a decision is given. The judges are Mr D. S. Watkins (president of I tie New Zealand Racing Conference), Sir Walter Stringer and Mr W. Perry, of Wellington. The hearing is expected to be a long one.
