RACING AT TAKAPUNA.

THE SPRING MEETING. WELL SUPPORTED WINNERS. A VICTORY FOR PAGAN'ELLI. The Spring meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club was- concluded yesterday in line weather and before a good attendance for an off day. Some very interesting racing was provided and the Investing publ'c were well on the mark. No fewer than six of yesterday’s winners were first favourite, while the best supported candidate in each of the other two races was in second place at ttie judge's box. Great Emblem, who was a well favoured fourth choice, was successful in the leading event, the St. Andrew’s Handicap, while Exaggeration, who is also trained at Takanini, had an end to end victory over the sprinters In the Cautley Handicap. Local candidates in Paganelli and Valpai gained wins in the Xgataringa Handicap and the Stanley Hack Handicap respectively. The scratching of Sparkling Morn, Holly Lu, Foulwind, Eldora, Kahau, Muskon and The Pullet reduced the Vauxhall Handicap field to thirteen. The Avondale owned and trained Delrain was £l3O better supported than Blanford, the opening day winner, with Maungatoon next in demand. Delrain, who was always well placed, scored by three-quarters of a length from an outsider in Toplight, who l finished well. Mungatoon was a neck f* further off, with Princess Star fourth. Nine ' contested the Kawau Highweight Handicap, Royal Survey and Catch’em being the defections. Thespis was an odds on favourite with £l9B more than Royal Visitor, with Nassock third in demand. Thespis scored comfortably by a length and a half from the seventh favourite Glenhaupo, with Royal Visitor three lengths away and Sub-Editor next. Valpai the Stanley.Prolyxo was the only scratching for the Stanley Hack Handicap, whioh eleven contested. Merry Lap was £l4 better supported than Puss Moth, with Senorita most in request of the others. The fifth favourite, Valpai, a member of L. Everson’s team at Te Rapa, who came with a late run, finished solidly to beat Merry Lap by half a length, with Currajong a similar margin away and Senorita fourth. The sprint field in the Cautley IJan- * (Heap was reduced to five by the scratching of Paganelli and Karangapai. Two dividends were paid. Exaggeration, who was favourite, with £l4l more than Tradesman, led ‘ throughout the six furlongs to defeat Tradesman by two lengths. Lucidus was half a length further off, with Marechal fourth. The St. Andrew’s Handicap, the leading event of the day, brought out ten starters, King’s Knave and Jalldy Karo being the defections from the nine furlong race. Speedmint was £9B better supported than Whakapara, with Refresher and Great Emblem in that order of the others. Great Emblem, who was sent back early, came with a* strong closing run to win by a heal from Speedmint, with Teels half a length away and Maori Boy at the head of the others. CONCLUDING RESULTS.

Cammick, rider of Royal Gallant, was suspended for one month for careless riding. Mcßae and Cammick will now miss tho Oargaville, Tuiimnrumii and Waipa meetings. Mcßae's suspension oporalcs from last Saturday, so that ho will be unable to ride on the first day of the Auckland Summer Mooting, which commences on December 26, while Cammick, whose term dates from yesterday, will not be able to ride on the first two days. A. G. Parsons was fined £2 for breaking an engagement to ride Kahau in tho Vauxhall Handicap. THE WAIRARAPA CUP. APPEALS LODGED. WELLINGTON, Monday. The owner-trainer of Atliolspear, B. Burgess, lias lodged an appeal against the decision of the Judicial stewards of the Carterton Macing Club, which deprived him of first place in the Wnirnrnpa County Cup nl the recent meeting in favour of Gay Court, which llnislied, second to Atliolspear. An appeal lias also been lodged on behalf of A. O’Neill, Burgess' apprentice and rider of Atliolspear, who was suspended for three months over the same incident. RETURN FROM AUSTRALIA. WELLINGTON.
