MR GEORGE E. CLARK. CELEBRATES 92nd. BIRTHDAY. GRAND OLD MAN OF DISTRICT. Mr George E. Clark, of Cambridge, is celebrating his 92nd birthday today. Air Clark, who is well-known as the founder and head of the firm of Clark and Sons, of Cambridge, Hamilton and.Waharoa, retains all his faculties and enjoys good health. 1 Air Clark, who was born in Cambridgeshire, England, in 1840, came to New Zealand in 1886, and three years laler purchased a farm of 300 acres at Pukeroro for 30s an acre, a properly that is now one of the finest parts of tiie Cambridge district. Subsequently Air Clark increased his holding to 600 acres and he farmed successfully for 27 years, when he established his business in Cambridge. Air Clark has always taken an active interest in agricultural matters, and was organiser of the original Waikato Farmers’ Club. He was a member of the Waikato County Council for six years, of tiie Cambridge Road Board for several years, and is an active member of the Waikato Central Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Mr Clark was also a member of the Cambridge Borough Council. The family gathered at the residence of Air Clark’s daughter, Airs A. AV. Cane, at Cambridge, on Saturday, to celebrate Air Clark’s birthday.
