CAR OVERTURNS

HAMILTON GIRL KILLED.

ACCIDENT NEAR PUTARURU

Tragic circumstances surrounded the death of Miss Patrloia Miller, aged 20 years, of Hamilton, who was killed In a motor accident on the main road between Tlrau and Putaruru yesterday afternoon.

Afiss Miller was one of a party of four who were travelling from Tirau to Putaruru in a three-seater car, with a dickey seat, driven by Mr Norman Ross, of Hamilton. While negotiating a corrugated stretch the car skidded in some loose shingle, and ran across the road into a bank and capsized. Aliss Miller, who was in the front seat, was killed instantaneously, sustaining a broken neck. The driver escaped with minor injuries. The other occupants of the car were Air J. S. F. Clemett, who owned the vehicle, and Aliss Bailey, of Putaruru. The latter was severely bruised and shaken. The windscreen of the car was shattered, and the bodywork extensively damaged. Deceased who was the daughter of Mr and Airs Peter Aliller, of Mill Street, Hamilton, was a pupil of the Hamilton High School for five years. She was well known and popular, and news of her deatli will come as a shock to a wide circle of friends. Inquest Opened. The inquest was opened at Putaruru this 'morning before the coroner, Air H. K. Mc-Dcrmott, and was adjourned after evidence of, identification had been taken.
