A SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR
ST. JOHN'S WOMEN'S AUXILIARY. Te Awamulu Town Hall presented an animated scene on Thursday when St. John's Women’s Auxiliary held their first bazaar. Those who patronised it found infinite variety, tine bought lollies from Anne's Candy Store, served by ladies of the powder and patches period. A few steps transported the buyer to great-grandmother’s day and she bought clothing etc., from the Christmas Shoppe. A jump and we were with “ Mrs Wigg's of liie Cabbage Patch ” who allowed us to dip in a fascinating tub for unknown treasures. Tittle girls were drawn, as by a magnet, to a stall where they could buy everything for Miss Dolly, from clothes lo furniture for her use. They were served at this Tudor Stall by ladies from Queen Elizabeth's day. Poke bonnets met us in “Ye Olio Market Place,” where we were able to buy produce of all descriptions. Tired shoppers quenched llieir thirst with afternoon tea, or strawberries and cream at ” The Sign of the tiypsyc Kettle,” where real gypsies served them. In the evening shopping, was enlivened with enlerlainnie.nl. The Misses I>. Bowden and 1.. Crnieksliank presented a gvpsy dance, Mr Keith Storey was responsible for a short sketch, a Spring dance by little Pul, McAllister and her companions was much enjoyed as was also a doll dance by hlllo girls of Puahue. The whole function was a huge success from every point of view and all the ladies are lo he eimgrainlaivo, particularly Hie Mayoress, Mrs C. (I. Downes i.presiileiit ■. Ye Hide Market Place—-Mesdames Jourduin. (loodall, lumkley, Storey, Parish and Ciilpan. Anne's Handy Store. Mesdames lirooks. McAllister and Vincent. While and Miss 1,, l’im'li.
