FAREWELL TO MINISTER.
CAMBRIDGE PRESBYTERIANS. REV. W. DAY HONOURED. CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. The congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church held a social gathering last evening to farewell the Rev. W. Day, who has been acting as resident minister since the pulpit had been rendered vacant through the transference of the Rev. Jas. Hay to Nelson. The Rev. H. G. Gilbert, of Hamilton, presided over a good attendance. He said that during the period he had been acting as moderator of the vacancy he had found a right-hand man in Mr Day.
Mr A. Hopklrk, session olerk, spoke of the successful period the church had experienced during Air Day’s short term of office. Messrs D. Phairn, C. G. Thompson, and S. R. James, also spoke in appreciation of Mr Day’s work in Cambridge. Mr Day thanked the speakers for their generous words. He Had enjoyed his work. Mr Day concluded with congratulations to the Church on its choice of new minister in the Rev. A. C. McLean, of Waipukurau. Musical items were rendered by Airs R. Simpson, Mis? Z. Rodgers, Rev. Gilbert and Mr G. G. Thompson.
