HOPEFUL INDICATIONS. IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRIES. IMPROVEMENT IN LANCASHIRE. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Nov. 16. The London Iron and Steel Exchange In its weekly report states that British Iron and steel manufacturers are experiencing a gradual, but definite expansion of activity. More export business Is being done, greater confidence is apparent in the market, and the pig-iron department is becoming more healthy, in this, as In the unfinished and finished steel branches of the Industry, the improvement in the demand is noticeable. The figures in connection with British cotton goods exports in the last 10 months show that Lancashire’s staple trade is also improving. The exports of printed cotton goods In the period named increased by more than 100,000,000 square yards compared with the corresponding period of last year.
