THE HAMILTON CLUB. OPENING DAY CELEBRATIONS. REGATTA ARRANGEMENTS. At an executive meeting of the. Hamilton 'Rowing Club, the chairman, Mr J. G. Bateson, commenting upon the opening day celebrations, said that it had been probably the most successful function of its kind held by the club in recent years. The large attendance of visitors was most gratifying to club officials and it was. hoped that the club would be able to retain public interest and support. All events had been well contested and good organisation had rendered it possible to rowoff an exceptionally large programme in record time. It was hoped that the veterans’ event, which had created a great deal of interest, would be included in the programmes of future functions. The work of the ladies’ committee, he added, in carrying out tlie afternoon tea arrangements under the handicap of somewhat inadequate facilities at the boat house, was worthy of the greatest praise. The attendance of a number of oarsmen from the Ngaruawahia Rowing Club was favourably commented on, the hope being expressed that the Hamilton Rowing 'Club would be able to return the complimentary visit on November 19, and send a good body of rowers to Ngaruawahia to take part in tiie opening day celebrations of that club. It was reported that some thirty members had handed in their names for entry in trial fours at Ngaruawahia on that day. The initial arrangements relative to the annual regatta to be held on .January 29, were reported to be under way and a general meeting for (lie election of officers for the 1933 regatta would be called in the near future. Reports furnished by Mr A. C. Norden, country member of the Auckland Rowing Association, were indicalive of great activity on the part of the executive of the parent body ami gratillcalion was expressed at the work accomplished by the new executive since Its inception.
