A RESIDENCE DESTROYED. DURING OWNER’S ABSENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Friday. An eight-roomed residence owned by M. Wade at Ngatapa was destroyed by fire whilst tho owijicr was visiting town. DRAPERY SHOP GUTTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) FOXTON, Thursday. A fire occurred at midnight in a drapery shop in Moutoa Buildings. The shop was gutted, and Mr. S. MatInn’s tobacconist’s shop adjoining was damaged by smoke and water. The occupants of Whyte's Hotel sleeping overhead made a hurried exit in their night attire. The insurances were £llO on the drapery and £350 on (lie stock in the tobacoonist’s shop, in tho Commercial Union Ofilce.
