Mr E. Gilbertson, J.P., has been appointed as coroner for Wellington, in succession to the late Mr I. Salek.

The'Rev. G. B. Withers, of Portsmouth, England, arrived at Auckland by the Rangitiki yesterday on a visit to the Dominion.

Messrs D. Langlands, A. E. Dodd, C. M. Richwhite, E. Avery, E. Morris, C. S. Grace-White (Auckland), J. H. Newsen and P. B. Wakeford (Wellington), are at the, Hamilton Hotel.

Mr R. Hanning, of Dunedin, has been appointed to fill the vacancy on the counoil of the New Zealand Bowling Association caused by the death of Mr A. J. Sullivan, of Dunedin.

Archdeacon G. G. Bell, V.G., Vicar of Cambridge, returned yesterday to Auckland from a health trip to England. The Archdeacon will resume his parish duties on Monday,

At a meeting of the congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Rotorua, it- was unanimously agreed to extend a call to Rev. J. C. Young, of Leeston.

The Rev. John Miller, of Christchurch, returned to Auckland by the Rangitiki yesterday from a visit to England. He was the New Zealand representative at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Edinburgh and Loudon.

Mr. H. S. Gullett, Federal Minister of Customs, has suffered a complete breakdown in health since his return from Ottawa and Is not able to attend Parliament. Tills is holding up the debate on the Ottawa agreements. Fears are entertained that Mr. Gullett’s condition is so serious that lie may be compelled to resign his portfolio.
