TOTALLY DESTROYED.
HOUSE AT MELVILLE. FIRE IN OCCUPANTS’ ABSENCE. CONTENTS NOT INSURED. While the o-ooupants were absent yesterday afternoon, Are totally destroyed a seven-roomed house situated some distance off the Ohaupo Road, between Melville and Rukuhia. The house, which was owned by Mr. L. Seifert, of Palmerston North, was occupied by Mr W. Garrard, with his wife and five children. The cause of the outbreak Is unknown. The oocupants knew nothing of the Are until they returned to And their home in ruins. Nothing was saved, and as the contents were not insured Mr Garrard is a heavy loser. The house was covered, but details of the insurance are not available.
