LOCAL MEAT SUPPLY.
BUTCHERS AND STOPPAGE. COMPANY’S REASSURANCE. In regard to the strike at Horotiu the South Auckland Master Butchers’ Union‘in a letter which was before the Hamilton Borough Council last evening asked would it be possible to have tentative arrangements made with Cambridge, or for butchers to have permission to kill privately subject to inspection in the shops. This proceedure was suggested, it was staled, on account of there being only two foreman butchers killing at Horotiu, and if they ceased work supplies would cease altogether. “ We want something more authoritative than that to go on,” maintained Cr. P. 11. Clapham. ” What does the company say?" The Mayor, Dr. F. D. Pinfold: The company informed us over the telephone that everything is alright. The letter was received.
