MATAMATA TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. At the ordinary meeting of the board on Tuesday evening Mr W. A. Gordon presided. The Matamata Returned Soldiers’ Association wrote that they understood the board had no flag of any description, and suggested that a Union Jack should be provided for ceremonial occasions.—The association is to be Informed that the board had a New Zealand ensign and quotations for a Union Jack are to be called for. The secretary of the Junior High School wrote drawing attention to motorists speeding past the school and asking that something should be done to minimise the danger to the children. —Signs are to be erected near the school and action taken against offenders. Cemetery Board. The same*members sat as the Cemetery Board. The Matamata Returned Soldiers’ Association wrote stating that in numerous countries areas have been set aside for the burial of ex-soldiers and nurses who served in the Great War. The association asked if the board would consider the setting aside of an area In the Matamata Cemetery for this purpose.—lt was decided to leave the matter in abeyance, and the clerk was instructed to find out what proceedure was adopted by other cemetery boards.
