LOST EVERYTHING'

HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE. APPEAL BY WELFARE LEAGUE. Deprived of their home and everything they possessed by a fire which broke out in their absence, a Hamilton relief worker and his wife and five children are in an unenviable position. They have nothing but the clothes the.y are wearing, and with the father earning only the small sum which three days on relief work each week produces, they have little prospect of replenishing their wardrobe or procuring household necessities. The fire which so devastated the home of this unfortunate family occurred yesterday afternoon, and destroyed the building and contents. Their belongings were not insured, so they will not be recompensed in any way. Their position is desperate, and with the knowledge that the people of Hamilton will not allow such misfortune to be borne by those who are least fitted to bear such a burden, the Waikato Social Welfare League has Issued an appeal for assistance in rehabilitating this family. Many calls have been made on the public in recent months, but there are doubtless many people who will in some way answer this latest appeal. Besides the man and his wife there are three boys aged 13, 10 and eight years, a girl of 12 years and a baby three months old. Clothing is wanted for all of these, and In addition crockery, cooking utensils, furniture, bedding and beds are needed. So far as beds are concerned two single and two double beds are required, together with bedding. The Welfare League is making this appeal confident that those more fortunately situated will not pass it by. Several cash donations have already been promised, and others will be welcomed. If donors will leave their parcels at the relief depot in the Winter Show buildings, or will ring 3352 so that their donations can be collected, they will assist a worthy cause.
