AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY EVENTS. THE CHATEAU, Wednesday. The first annual alpine sports meeting of the Auckland University College Tramping Club opened to-day at Scoria Flat, National Park. Following were the results: — Men’s Downhill: R. Sharp, 1;- N. C. Baslcett, 2; L. Lucena, 3. Women’s Downhill: Miss J. Rennie, 1; Miss R. Brevvin, 2; Miss T. Ellett, 3. Men’s Slalom: N. C. Basket't, 1; H. Read, 2; 11. Sharp, 3. Women’s Slalom: Miss F. Morris, 1; Miss T. Ellett, 2; Miss B. Brewin, 3. NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY F. ADDIS. THE CHATEAU, Wednesday. The final event.of the New Zealand amateur ski championships, which are being held in conjunction with the ? OHi annual sports meeting of the Ivuapehu Ski Club at Tongariro National Park, was decided to-day, when the langlaus long-distance race was contested. The race also carried with It the title of New Zealand langlaus champion. The course was approximately seven miles. Added interest* to the race was given by .the appearance <of T. W. Mitchell, the Australian ski champion. Although he ran only into sixth place on to-day’s run he will he a strong opponent In 'the slalom and downhill events. Results were as follows: — F. Addis (Stratford Mountain Club), 1; C. F. Taylor (Ruapehu Ski Club), 2; Brian McMillan (Stratford Mountain Club), 3. Won by 50s.
