Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the continuation of the Waikato Hockey Association’s competition for the Killip Shield, which was advanced a further stage on Saturday. HINEMOA WIN. DEFEAT OF . OLb BOYS, In a hard and fast game Hinemoa defeated Old Boys by 3 goals to nil. The teams were: — Old Boys: M, West, D. Pountney, O McKenzie; C. Ross, N. Ross, M. Howe; J. Sim, T. Mills, J. West, J. Davies, F. Craig. Hinemoa: J. Kilham; R. Seal, D. Andrews, J. Watson, L. Luxton, P. Westbury; L. Monteith, T. Allsop G. Hampton, J. Morris, W. Froude. Old Boys had the advantage in the opening stages but good defence eased the position. Play swung to the other end of the field where M. West was instrumental in diverting a trenchant attack, until Froude centred perfectly to Hampton who goaled with a ground shot.—Hinemoa 1, Old Boys 0. Hinemoa were having the bulk of the attack and the van, combining perfectly, was a delight to watch. Allsop secured before the Old Boys’ goal and netted with a beautiful shot.— Hinemoa 2, Old Boys 0. Old Boys swept the field in a whirlwind rush, and Davies had a good but futile attempt at goal. Hinemoa secured the territorial advantage when Froude gave them preference with a characteristic dash down the line. The position was reversed when Davies and Sim combined in a brilliant passing rush and a corner resulted, from where Monteith and Hampton cleared to midfield. Half-time came without any Change in the score:— Hinemoa 2 Old Boys 0 Play hovered in midfield, both teams securing occasional temporary territorial advantages. The Hinemoa van for a time monopolised attack, and only the good goal-keeping of M. West prevented an Increase in their total. The ball was rapidly taken to the other end of the field but Hampton and Froude eased the pressure. Play was fast and willing. Old Boys then had their turn on attack but Mills mishit, allowing Seal to clear, and the tables were turned. West was caught cut of position and Allsop narrowly missed goaling. KAIPAKI THREE GOALS DOWN. After an interesting though rather one-sided contest Cambridge led Kaipaki 3-0. The teams were:— Cambridge.—D. Dillon; J. Webber, N. McKinnon, R. Dillon, L. McKinnon, G. Walker; J. Templar, C. Kehely, I. McKinnon, D. McKinnon, W. Kehely. Kalpakl.—J. Foster, F. Boyd, C. Cowley; A. Cowley, C. Bones, A. Boyd, G. Boyd, L. Karl, J. Tarr, W. Tarr, J. Bones. From the bully-off Kalpakl attacked and kept up the pressure until a good passing rush toy the t Cambridge forwards relieved the situation and carried play to Kaipalci’s twenty-five. Good work by C. Bones was a prelude to a Kaipaki forward rush but owing to lack of finish little advantage was gained. Cambridge were, at this stage, having the better of the game and kept Kaipaki hemmed in their circle. C. Cowley cleared well and Cambridge was forced to concede a corner just prior to the half-time whistle. Cambridge kept up the pressure in the opening stages of the second spell but the situation was reversed when Karl put in a brilliant dash down the line.
