CYCLE ROAD RACE.
HAMILTON SPORTS CLUB. RANDRUP’S . .24-MILE SUCCESS. FASTEST TIME'TO C. HENWOOD. Twelve riders were engaged In the Hamilton Sports Club’s cycle road race held on Saturday afternoon from the Hamilton East Post Office to Cambridge and back, a distance of 2a miles. The race was won by H. Randrup, the limit man, who maintained his advantage throughout the journey, a very creditable performance for a young rider. N. Honwood and Martin, a new contender, rode on the eight minute mark. Before Banks’ Corner was reached on the outward trip, Hodgson overtook MartJK, and at the turn for home he caught Henwood. Hodgson was still in second place at Tamahere, with Barr and Lee riding together third. Two miles from home Barr, 'Lee and Hodgson were on terms, Benfell and C. Henwood being .only 300 yards behind them. Randrup was well ahead, and went on to win comfortably, but the five riders behind him fought a stirring battle for second and third places, Barr and C. Henwood getting home in that order, with only a few inches separating them from the other three. The race resulted:— H. Randrup (10min.), 71min. ... 1 O. Barr (2.30), C 2.50 1-5 2 C. Henwood (scr.), 61.20 (fastest time). 3 WAIKATO AMATEUR CLUB. TEAM RACE AT ROTORUA. WIN FOR THE VISITORS. A team of riders representing the Waikato Amateur Cycle Club travelled to Rotorua on Saturday, and met the local club in a road race from Rotorua to Waiotapu and back, a distance of 36 miles. The first six men to finish were Waikato riders, who had much the better of the race. The result was as follows: R. Hyde (Waikato), limin 1 T. Barnett (Waikato), 11 min. 2 R. Hampton (Waikato), omin. .. 3 Fastest time, R. Tasker (Waikato, scr., lhr. 42<min. C. Bull (13.30), was fourth, with R. Tasker (scr.) and B, Waugh (scr.), all-of the Waikato Club, next in order. EVENT AT WAHAROA. MOORE MAKES FASTEST TIME. (Special to Times.) WAHAROA, Saturday. In the oyole road race to Richmond Downs via Walton, a 22 mile course, E. C. Moore (scr.), defeated J. Dragovlch (imln.) H. Lewis (lmin.) filling third place. Fastest time was registered by Moore who covered the distance in 59min. RACING AT AUCKLAND. The Auckland Cycle Club’s 204 milo event at Tamaki on Saturday afternoon resulted:— F. Clarke (8.0), 63min. 49sec. .. 1 F. Lowndes (7.0) 2 0. Porter (7.0) 3 Fastest time, K. Mathieson (1.30), 58.5. THE MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB. Sixteen riders competed In the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club’s 20 miles race on Saturday afternoon. The event resulted:— H. W. Smith (10.0), 64.2 1 C. D. Thackwell (10.0), 64.12 .. 2 N. Clark (2.0), 57.9 3 Fastest time: A. W. D. Robinson (scr.), 57.4. AUCKLAND AMATEUR CLUB. There were 13 starters in the Auckland Amateur Cycle Club’s 32 mile senior race from New Lynn to Henderson and back, on Saturday afternoon. Following was the result: W. Crocker (8.45) 1 W. Pinker (scr.) 2 G. Patrick (3.0) 3 Fastest time, W. Pinker, lhr. 39min. Bsecs.
