With the grounds at, Steele Park in good order and weather conditionideal, the Waikato Hockey Assomtions senior competition for the Shield was continued on Saturday. Aa result- of the latest, games Cambridm and Ilinemoa hold the lead in the competition, with Golts and Old Bo>s also equal in second position. The Results. Cambridge 3, Old Boys 0. BRILLIANT GAME. CAMBRIDGE DEFEAT OLD BOYS. In a fast and even game Cambridge defeated Old Boys by three goals to nil. Old Boys—M. West; D. Pountney, O. McKenzie; M. Howe, J. Tuck, C. Ross; F. Craig, J. Davies, N. Ross, K. Hammond, J. Sim. Cambridge.—D. Dillon; J. Webber, N. McKinnon, R. Dillon, L. McKinnon, G. Walker; J. Templar, C. Kehely, I. McKinnon, D. McKinnon, W. Kehely. Webber put Cambridge on attack at the opening stages and W. Kehely narrowly missed with a close-range shot. The visitors maintained the aggressive and only the good defence of West and Pountney kept them at bay until the ball came out of the U'uck for W. Kehely to draw first blood lor Cambridge without difficulty.—• Cambridge 1, Old Boys 0. The Cambridge van’s combination was splendid, and Old Boys were bottled up in their circle until C. Ross relieved with a dash down the line. Tuck was prominent in some brilliant defensive work in Old Boys’ territory, but the consistency of the Cambridge van sustained the spectacular attack. Tuck gave Old Boys preference with a dash down the line, and Davies went within an ace of scoring. Cambridge swept down the field in a whirlwind rush, and from a melee in the Old Boys’ goal-mouth I. McKinnon scored the visitors’ second goal. Half-time came shortly after with the score:— Cambridge 2, Old Boys 0. Walker fed W. Keheliy and within a minute of the resumption the latter passed infield for Walker to goal.— Cambridge 3, Old Boys 0. The visitors maintained the attack and West kicked clear brilliantly on successive occasions.. W. Kehely raised the gallery's enthusiasm with a brilliant dash but Pountney cleared effectively. Davies gave Old Boys the margin of attack but Dillon kept the goal intact at the expense of a corner from where the visitors’ van cleared to half-way. Cambridge now showed definite superiority, and although the Old Boys' van embarked on several attacking forays they were, for the most part hemmed In their own twenty-five. Howe and Tuck worked play into the visitors’ territory where the latter went near to scoring from a corner. Old Boys held the margin of play until the final whistle with the score:—

WIN FOR HINEMOA.

OHAUPO FOUR GOALS DOWN. I r Ohaupo, although beaten 4—o by Hinemoa, showed much Improved form in all branches of the game. Hinemoa were a more solid and more consistent eleven, and by superior team work sustained a trenchant attack. Hinemoa’s goals were netted iby Allsop and Hampton, who secured two each. Messrs R. McCaw and N. Bergersen were the referees.

PIRATES SUPERIOR. DEFEAT OF KAIPAKI. In a close and interesting contest Pirates defeated Kalpaki 2 —o. Evenly matched, the two elevens provided an interesting game, in which brilliant forward rushes predominated, while flashes of combined play gave the rnacth Interest, from the spectators’ standpoint. H. McDonagh and E. Jones were the scorers for Pirates. Messrs G. C. Hunter and R. W. Bennett had control of the game.

COLTS TOO STRONG. BIG MARGIN OVER WHIPPETS. Showing superior in all departments. Colts defeated Whippets by eight goals to nil. Bearing the brunt of the attack. ttie losers' defence put up a line display and although the perseverance and brilliance of the Colts' van told, the game ’brought, to light some fine displays by junior players. in particular M. Phitin. a pupil of the Technical High School, in the left-half position, played an outstanding game. Kelly 3), Baddeley (2), Slorry (2) and McKenzie were the scorers for the Colts. Messrs W. C.
