ATHLETIC v. THISTLE. GAME AT BEDDON PARK. Senior Reserve. —Onehunga 1 drew with Thistle 1; Tramurewa 7 beat Glen Innes 1; North Shore 2 drew with Ponsonby 2. THAMES VALLEY COMPETITION. MORRINSVILLE 2 v. WAITOA i. The Morrinsvliie and Waitoa teams met at Morrinsvliie on Saturday. Hunter was first to be tested with a shot from Cross, but made a safe catch. Next McEwan tested Smith, but found him quite capable. Play was taken quickly to the Morrinsvliie goal, where Hunter mis-punchcd a centre from llodder, and had to pay the penalty. Cross was up with the play and just had to walk the ball in. Almost immediately, through good play

on Ruddook's part, Morrlnsvllle equalised, McEwan being the scorer. The hest shot this half was Shepherd’s from the half-way line. Half time came with one goal to each side. With 15 minutes to go Morrlnsvllle took the lead through King. His effort was an Individual one, and he heat four men before scoring. From the kick off Waltoa started a threatening movement, which was finally broken up by Adams. Waltoa continued to have most of the play, but found in Marshall, for Morrlnsvllle, an unbeatable left-half, his tackling and kicking being strong. The game then ended in Morrinsville’s favour by 2 goals to 1. Outstanding for the-winners were Hunter, Shepherd and Ruddock. For Waitoa Smith, Williamson and Phillips were, most prominent. ENGLISH TROPHY. OTAGO BEATS CANTERBURY. DUNEDIN. Saturday. Driving rain set in at midday, and Logan Park was in slippery condition for the representative Soccer match between Otago and Canterbury for the English trophy. There were 3000 spectators. Canterbury played with the wind and rain behind them in the first spell. They launched several attacks on the Otago goal, hut could not get within striking distance. Otago rallied, and their forwards carried the ball to the Canterbury goal, where McCormack had.a shot, which was just wide.
