SPECIAL FLOOD PUMPS. PUMPS FOR EVERY PURPOSE. Stands of particular interest to visitors to the Waikato Winter Show are those of Mac Ewan’s Machinery, Ltd., which are situated in the Main Annexe. This firm, which has established a high reputation for the quality of the pumps it manufactures for every purpose, has its office in Fort Street, Auckland. Recently it erected new works at Penrose, to meet its ever expanding trade, based upon the high quality of the goods it manufactures. To state that the firm’s high standard is greater than ever, is not an over-estimate of the facts. At its Penrose works is installed one of the finest foundry plants in New Zealand. In addition to its usual activities, the firm’s operations include the making of castings for electric fittings and electric stoves. The pumps Which the firm manufacture under a special expert staff, are full 100 per cent British and the numerous unsolicited testimonials which are received support their efficiency and the universal satisfaction they give to their many users. A speciality of their manufacture are the large flood pumps, which have solved the problem of converting large tracts of water affected land into cultivated areas, giving the highest returns in production. MaeEwan’s Floodwater Pumps -have been installed on large-areas of land in islands, ■ where they have met all requirements. Economical and quiet in operation, they represent self contained, c .mpact units. They can be operated either from an oil engine, tractor, or electric motor. They need the minimum of attention, occupy little space and are of the simplest and most rugged construction. The point cannot be over-stressed that good drainage is one of the most - vital influences affecting the productivity of the land and farmers, whose areas are affected by flood waters, will have their needs fully met by the installation of one of Mac Ewan’s latest in famous Floodwater Pumps. The firm has recognised the importance of land drainage and the need of a Low-lift Pump, with considerably Improved hydraulic characteristics and increased efficiency, to such an extent that they have designed an entirely new Lowlift Flood Water Pump in sizes with capacities ranging from 40,000 to 360,000 gallons per hour. Low running costs and high capacity are the salient features of this pump. Another feature of the firm’s manufacture which is also on display, is the new beam type deepwell gearing. It is self-oiling, has a variable stroke and a totally enclosed gear that runs in oil and is counter-balanced, while it will run for months Without attention. Going further, there is for inspection a new model Centrifugal Pump, which.is directly coupled to an electric motor. It is designed for sump work and can be used for other purposes for pumping and is proving very efficient. This pump, which Is in universal use by butter and -cheese factories, is made in sizes ranging. from 500 gallons to 45,000 gallons per hour. Pressure outfits, which are self-oiling and automatically controlled, are manufactured in four sizes, ranging from 230 gallons to 3000 gallons per hour. These enable farmers to maintain the water supply on their farms, in their sheds, washhouses, etc., at city pressure, which is essential to success in the maintenance of the all essential water supply. The famous "L.K.G.” Milking Machine needs no introduction to the successful dairy farmer. For long service and low running costs the “L.K.G.” has no equal. Every one in three in use is an “L.K.G.", the sales of which show 8000 out of 22,000.
