PROTEST TO PREMIER. GRAVE ALARM EXPRESSED. A CONFERENCE RESOLUTION. (By Telegraph.—Special Reporter.) AUCKLAND, Friday. An unanimous decision to telegraph to the Premier, Mr G. W. Forbes, urging that no farmer be put off his farm or sold up owing to the operation of price factors over which he has no control, was reached at the Provincial Farmers’ Confeuence today. The conference expressed grave alarm at the action of the Crown and private mortgagees in evicting mortgagors in a time of national distress. MUTUAL PROTECTION. SPECIAL COMMITTEES PROPOSED. OBJECTS AIMED AT. (By Telegraph.—Special Reporter.) , AUCKLAND, Friday. As' the result of a report by the special committee, which was adopted by the Auckland Provincial Conference oi - Hie Farmers’ Union, to-day, branches throughout the provinces are requested to form Farmers’ Protection Committees with objects as follows: To co-ordinate the interests of farmers ; To advise and assist farmers in difficulties under real confidence; To resist by gll possible constitutional means any unjust treatment of farmers in difficulties owing to economic conditions. Subscription for non-members of the union will be determined by the local branch. Membership is to he open to farmers occupying lands under any tenure.
