QUEEN VISITS THE BABIES.
The King and Queen made Easter a happier time for hundreds of sick and suffering children, women, and men, by paying a surprise visit lasting an hour 'to Dulwich Hospital, London. The Queen made a special point of seeing the mothers and hables In the maternity ward. The new-born babies delighted her. “They arc beautiful,” she declared. “Show me the latest arrival, please.” This was a 'boy, a fow hours old, whose mother is Mrs Constance Mercer, of Constance Road, East Dulwich. “You have a very fine baby," the Queen told her, smiling, when the child was brought to her. Only one baby cried while the King and Queen were in the ward. At its lusty wail the King turned to Hie Queen witii a laugh and said: “Hungry. obviously I” In Mi if children's ward the King noticed a lit tie girl—Joan Wombwoll, aged 5J —looking al him very seriously. He gravely saluted tier, and then patted her check. The children had a lot lo say about their toys, and the King replied as gaily as they talked.
